Need Help?

English Barn Cats-Lancashire is a small, volunteer-led rescue. Because we rely on a limited number of foster homes and public donations, we unfortunately have a long waiting list for intake. Before contacting us, please follow the steps below and fill out this form so we can understand how best to help. This ensures that lost pets find their owners and that our limited spaces are kept for cats in genuine crisis.

How we work: We assess every case individually and must prioritise cats in the most urgent need. Once submitted, the cat will be added to our waiting list. If you don’t hear from us straight away, please know we haven’t ignored you—we will be in contact as soon as we have availability.

🚨 Emergencies: We do not have a direct contact number. If the cat is very poorly or in immediate danger, please complete this form first and then message our Facebook page directly to alert us.

1. Steps you MUST take first

If the cat is healthy and friendly, please do the following before requesting a rescue space:

  • Social Media: Post a photo on local “Lost and Found” Facebook groups and community pages.
  • Check with Neighbours: Many cats have a “second home” several streets away where they go for extra snacks!
  • Scan for a Microchip: Take the cat to any local vet. They will scan the cat for free to see if it has a registered owner.
  • The Paper Collar: If you can touch the cat, put a paper collar around its neck with your phone number and the text: “Is this your cat? Please call me.”

2. Our Priority System

As a small team with limited funds, we must prioritise our help:

  • Emergencies: We will prioritise cats that are visibly sick, badly injured, or in immediate danger.
  • Can you Foster? We can help you much faster if you can provide a temporary space. If you can keep the cat in a spare room while we arrange the vet work and find a permanent home, please let us know immediately.
  • Waiting List: For all other healthy strays, we will add you to our waiting list and offer advice in the meantime.

3. Contacting Us

If you have completed the steps above and still need our assistance, please fill out the form below.

Please Note: We are all volunteers with other commitments. We will respond as soon as we can, but we cannot always offer an immediate rescue space.
